The new "Hip" thing...

Postby Lazerbeak » Mon Jul 23, 2007 12:23 am

New Mi-8 "Hip" that is! I was very pleased to see this one at avsim.ru a few days ago. It's the new Project Air-Foxes Mi-8 series. I've been following the development of this lovely new helo for some time, yearning for the chance to fly it, so imagine my delight when I saw this beauty gracing the frontpage of avsim.ru!

I'd been pining for a good freeware Hip for a LONG time, so this is truly a blessing. Sadly, no VC, but I hear talk that a VC version is in the works. Also, a new set of extra models and paints was released today, including a UTair paint that just begged to be flown around Surgut, so I did just that, and took a few screens while I was at it.

Not really trying to impress anyone with these screenies, just showing off my new toy. :D

Sitting at Surgut Airport, waiting for pax.

Waving goodbye to the other UTair birds, as I make my way to the runway.

Speaking of UTair, I still can't wait for RATS to release their UTair traffic package, mine's terribly outdated...

Caught this Kolavia Tu-154B-2 landing while I waited for clearance.

One last shot of this beautiful helo.

Ja... ;D

Great shots; as has already been mentioned, the lighting is spot-on.

Cheers for the comments, lads. :)

To Iwannabeapilot, I'm not sure if it's accurate to the real helo, but the dynamics are quite smooth, and she's a real treat to fly. In my opinion, very easy to fly even for those who have trouble with helos.

And did you get the additional model pack (another 11mb)?

Indeed I did, and I was delighted that it included military variants (which I felt were sorely missing from the original pack), all it needs is a VC for it to be 100% perfection.

It has no VC ?
That's strange, there was already another Mi-8 with VC existing, I thought this copter was just the newest version of it...
Well, I will stay with the previous version then :/

Great shots by the way  :)

You're thinking about the Mi-8 by Vladimir Zhyhulskiy. It has a VC, but the exterior model is slightly lacking (though it makes a fantastic AI helo). This is an all-new model by a different crew, which as of yet has no VC. Though if I'm not mistaken, the VC version is in development.

Oh I see, so that's a different team making a different model, that's clear now, thanks for the info :)
I'm glad they are working on a VC. With such a nice exterior model and a VC, this copter will be a must-have for me !!

I've just tried her out and I have to agree with that! Very nice to fly.  8-)
