Panama Canal

Postby aussiewannabe » Wed Jul 11, 2007 5:32 pm

I've reached Panama City, Panama on my Mexico, Central America, South America run in a Howard 500. However, I'm using a Schweizer 300 to do some sight-seeing.

I'm disappointed that not one ship was near or in of of the water locks. Had ships maxed out at 99% I don't know if less would have been better.

Nice scenery mate but that water is horrible. You really should do something about your water textures ...
Water doesn't look that way especially in canals. I should know, I live in the Netherlands which is made up from canals ;D

I think in this case, the water feature is maxed out here. I usually set it at 2x. I checked to see if envmap file was in the texture folder (and it is).

What do you use for your water textures? I would really like to see the water as it should be despite of where I am in the world, not what Microsoft thinks it should be.

Scratches head!

In terms of the "tank top," are you referring to the brown utility platform attached to the right of the heli or the pilot's shirt?

Personally, I wish that platform wasn't there. I haven't found a Schweizer 300 without it, except for the one that has spray dusters attached to it.

Thanks :D

That's at avsim.com, right? Been wanting to look at their stuff, but didn't want to register. Not that I have a problem with that. I'm registered on this website  ;D I just have so many registrations with companies I would like to work for that I have to keep a list of usernames, passwords on standby.

REP is OK but I really dislike some of it's features, like that hideous sun or it's envmap.bmp :(

Aussie, I know that you're on FSX but if you really want the best get Flight Environment. I know it is not yet available for FSX but I'll bet you that it will be the same improvement to FSX as it did to my FS9. And although I have Flight Environment (and a lot of other stuff to only enhance the scenery) I still use a mix of different textures and effects to get the look that I think is realistic and like it that way. So it might not be for you ...

But if you want ... here's a shot of my water ...

Please keep in mind that this is only a quicky coming from Flight Simulator 2004 ::)

Yep, that's way better in terms of water color.

What is REP? Still getting used to the acroynms used in the forum ;-)
