But, lets face it, it couldn't compete with a typhoon.

I could, especially in a Dogfight.

After all, they share the same genetic material.

I think the typhoon's just a bit more heavy-duty, and it'd probably outlast a Rafale. It'd be close, granted, but I think eventually, the typhoon would win

I know, but the model used is a YF-22. For me, what makes the YF-22 ugly, and the F-22 not ugly, is the position of the cockpit.

Believe it or not, the F-22 has some weaknesses - its agility is believed to be poor in comparison to the typhoon, which can hold 9g's almost indefinately - the pilot's the limitation on that front.

I didn't mean the real aircraft, I meant the model you used, by Ito.

I think you'd better look back at the start of the thread - they weren't my screenshots :D

I was just commenting on the differenced between the yf-22 and the f-22

;D :D Still, my point is valid. ;)

Yeah the Rafale does have a naval sister. Rafale M. The Rafale also has some stealth. And to think an American is defending a French plane! ::)

I believe the Typhoon also has a limited amount of stealth... those canards look surprisingly F-117ish, in a way; angular and flat.

Nothing that would help it to any great extent though - like the Rafale

While you won't find full stealth on the Rafale or Typhoon anytime soon...you will find that they are stealthy to some degree. They have surprisingly small radar sections due to their designs (does the Rafale look like the F-22 in some ways? Sure does). Hell, just about every military plane has stealth these days. Even the B-1B!

USAF_Raven's ava is of a penguin. What's so bad about that?

Y'all say the F-22 is ugly. I get to see them live and in color every now and then over Nellis. I think they're pretty nice machines. I really like how they are designed to deliver a memorable kiss to those who so sorely deserve it...

He's right, the F-22 looks good. But PLEASE, this isn't the place to get all militaristic and patriotic. It serves no useful purpose here.
