FSX and those morning flights....

Postby Daube » Mon Apr 16, 2007 6:04 pm

Hi all,

I've just finished a small flight in Switzerland from Ulrichen to Sion with the fantastic UTVA 75 from FS9, fully compatible with FSX (but you have to change the panel.cfg to resolve the famous stretched screen -black band in the bottom - issue).

The scenery is not completely default: the scenery Switzerland Project (or something like that, landclass + airports, filename like ebch3tot.zip, from FS9 again) is installed. Weather set to storm happening (sorry, don't know the english name, the one that specifies that a storm is forming), early morning. The shots are taken somewhere in half-way. Enjoy :)

A little town below, still in the shadow, while the sun starts to lighten the top of the nearby mountain.

The scenery around me gets clearer and clearer while I fly, creating some nice contrast with the relative darkness of the valley.

That's my favorite. Normally I don't fly with light bloom, because it makes my FPS drop from 20 to 12 or 11... But I can't wait having the necessary hardware to enjoy that bloom at any time. I mean, look at that atmosphere !

That light bloom looks wonderful :o!  It really is one of the great things about FSX...

Thank you all for the kind comments :)

I have to mention that the whole flight could be completed without any graphical problem (no blurry textures... ok I was very slow :) ) once I disabled the light bloom, at a reasonnable frame rate of 19 FPS locked.

My specs:
Pentium IV 3,2 GHz
1 Gb RAM
NVidia 6800 GT 256 Mb
and world slowest IDE hardrive, which caused some minor FPS drops each time the sim had to load some scenery from the disk... :P
