A scary flight...

Postby Mictheslik » Sat Mar 24, 2007 4:50 pm

KLM Citihopper to Stuttgart...with real world weather. What the helpful box saying scattered clouds didnt tell me was that on the ground visibility was down to not very far ;). This combined with the fact that my autopilot seemed to break on approach meant that I handflew an approach in very thick fog. That's why I'm not on the centreline ;)

The fog here is bad...but not as bad as in Stuttgart

above the fog...which has mysteriously disappeared

this is more like it :D

Oh dear...a handflown approach in this...persistent use of the sickbag was needed ;)

almost there....after just avoiding an annoying hill placed at the end of the runway

Down :D

Full reverse thrust!

Then I went to Exeter to watch York City draw 1-1 :D

Just a quick question, I've noticed a lot of screens lately of airliners banking immediately after takeoff and was wondering if everyone was just doing it for dramatic effect?  I know, I'm being picky now :-[

They could be blow to one side deu to a cross wind, and i know some departures require you too turn just after you have reached manouvre speed.
