Anybody who has downloaded any freeware, has probably heard of Mike Stone.  Too bad

I just went to his site.

He was recieving personal attacks?  Thats insane!  It makes me wonder about the number of socially starved computer geeks there are out there.  I wouldn't be suprised if there was a correlation between computer usage in adolesents and boaderline personality disorder :-/

I liked Mike's work because he so wisely put in an auto-installer for those of us who can't perform that seemingly simple procedure. I have tried. And I have failed-- repeatedly...

Really too bad that he quit. Even more worrying that the niwits arses that made him stop are now probably out for a new target. Freeware designers, every single ones, whether Planes, Scenery and what ever comes to FS are a vital part for the FS community. they are the ones keeping it alive and going. Without them the Fs world wouldn't be 5% of what it is now. Every time one of them quits it's a great loss tot the community. Especially when someone who has proved himself to be invaluable like Mike Stone quits.

Remember everytime you criticize a freeware product that the person that built that is just doing it as a hobby. most of them never receive any pay whatsoever. They just do it for the fun of ity and just hope that others might enjoy their works as well. Always ask yourself, when you critisize another mans freeware. if you could do it better. If you can than don't critisize but do it better yourself. Or at least try to come up with some constructive comments.

At least that's my opinion.

Now that's a new we all could do without. It was a while (because he has always not-so-subtly complained about it) that some losers had it against Mike Stone. Really that's... beyond sad. Sad people for real. How can they complain to someone that gives out gifts to the community (because freeware is fundamentally that, a gift)? Those idiots must be a bunch of whining brats, no matter their physical age. >:(

Really a shame. I cannot but side with Stone, even if I cannot but wish he didn't decide to quit. :(

Yup that's quite a shame :'(.  I really enjoy flying his planes too.  Why can't people just be polite to designers...if they think they could do better they should try themselves >:(.

I have sent an e-mail to Mike Stone telling him how unfortunate it is to see him retire simply because of a group of people who don't seem to know how to criticize in a constructive and polite manner. But it's his choice though. If he wants to retire, then let him enjoy his time off. Providing that many models to the FS community for free can be very exhausting to a professional developer.

Mike Stone may no longer be an active developer, but his work will live on inside our hard drives.

Mike Stone was in no way a 'professional' designer. He only did it for a hobby, just like most addon developers.
