New 3D Photo Real Los Angeles= WOW!!

Postby VE3PKY » Mon Mar 12, 2007 8:37 pm

Here is a couple of shots of the new 3D Photoreal Los Angeles Scenery just posted here at SimViation by Gottfried Razek/ blueskyscenery.

All I can say is Wow! Usually I find PhotoReal too flat for my taste, but this takes the cake! And you can land on all those Tower heliports as well!!!

(Who needs FSX?)

Wow, those shots are quite impressive indeed  :o
Could you post some other shots to show the sourroundings ? I'd be very surprised that all the city is as detailled as this little area.... but in case it trully is, then this is really a great scenery.

(Who needs FSX?)

All those who are flying out of L.A ;)

You'd be easier looking at their own download page. Google ' blueskyscenery '

OK I see now. That's a great project, but the current results are not that good yet. The fact is that this guy has to model any possible buidling specifically... the memory consumption will explose.
But it's currently not bad. The only negative point is the total lack of autogen, so as soon as you're not looking at those skycrappers, the city looks awfull...

My Frames in the external view (As displayed in the shots) was 15-16 FPS. In the Pit it was about 10-12. My PC is not the latest (Pentium 4 2GHZ,1Meg Ram, 256 MB ATI 9600). It was still smooth enough to be usable, and is certainly great eye candy! This scenery is part of a series (All available here at SimV), covering a large portion of southern California. The other sets are only 2D, so they look flat at a distance, but the view from above you can make out alot of fine detail (.3M/pixel).

This scenery is pretty much just the downtown core, but is certainly a huge step up. Imagine this stuff in 5 years, when all the Raytracing gets implemented (If you want to see some of the potential in that, check out the London and Port Stanley Railway site for MSTS.  www.lnps.info/L+PS.html )

This scenery is only available for FS9 at the moment.

(I thought FSX was supposed to be so good, it didn't need addon acenery!) ;)
