FS2002and a sorry video card...

Postby Scudrunners » Thu Nov 09, 2006 9:07 pm

Someone said that I had a sorry video card that wouldn't support FS2002 and was not DX9 compliant. Here are some screenshot from 2002. Notice the frame rates. I don't see any problems with it.

With the sliders at default, I get 20 fps in FSX. With the sliders at max., I run 8 to 10 fps. These shots were done with sliders at the max in 2002.

Of course I learned that I get no reflections. Now that just totally ruined my life. How can one possible fly a plane without reflections. Just HORRIBLE. The whole simulator is not worth diddly squat now.

Anyone want to buy a FSX for $10.00? (shipping is $100.00) No wait, can't sell it. The buyer would not be able to activate it. Guess I'll just throw them all in the trash. FSX, 2004, and 2002. How could I have been so stupid to think that I could enjoy a game without having $50,000 to $100,000 worth of computer equipment.

I just figured out something. For the money it takes to buy the computer equipment to run these sims (especially FSX), I could buy me any airplane and have the real thing. Then I wouldn't have to worry about frame rates and reflections.

This is a dig at me so why not come out & say so? I pointed out that the GeForce4 MX series of cards is not fully DX 9.0c compliant which is true. I know you don't believe me so maybe you will believe a pro. In fact they're not DX 8 compliant. http://gear.ign.com/articles/357/357851p1.html

I never said that FS2002 or even FSX will not run on your video card, simply that you might not get the full features. As for reflections, I was using FS2002 quite happily for years with an old 3DFX Voodoo 5500. The company went out of business in 2000, 3 weeks after I bought it so it was never updated to support reflections & many of the latest features. There was no way I could afford to replace it so please don't expect much sympathy from me.

If you don't see any problems with it then obviously you havn't seen what FS2002 looks like on full settings with a card that supports it fully. I don't want to reinstall FS2002 but if I have to I will. You shots look more like FS2000 to be brutally honest.

I do. It barely makes a difference with most aircraft (and some, it makes it look worse), so I don't bother with them, especially when flying around AI aircraft or in multiplayer.

And nowadays, you wouldn't have to fork out much on computer equipment at all to run FS2002 on max settings...
