Been Reading 'First Light'

Postby TSC. » Sun Jul 30, 2006 1:31 pm

So I had to dust off the old birds & get out & about over Kent. This the AH Hurricane with the (wartime) RAF Hawkinge scenery & AH Spitfire AI.

Had a blast:

Very nice. To all of you with RAF ambitions - read "First Light" - it'll save you time later and is a darn good read... People like Geoffrey Wellum are few and far between...

Certainly is a good read, one of my fave quotes so far is when Geoff is being told by his instructor to be careful when flying into Netheravon for the first time:

'It's an FTS* but the navy have it, so anything can happen; just watch out for sailors in aircraft.'

* Flight Training School

**Flying Training School...

Sorry to be nitpicky, but we must uphold standards when talking about the oldest Flying School in the world.*

(*The RAF's Central Flying School - or CFS as it is more commonly known...) :)
