Tripoli...

Postby Omag 2.0 » Sat Jul 29, 2006 7:58 am

Well, since I was in Malta, I decided to go on and explore the area... I'll be taking actual routes (if possible with the correct vehicle - airport websites give so much info these days...).

For starters I wanted to go to Africa... but I took a ferry instead of a jet...

I boarded this Japanese ferry, that will become Libanese in a few hours... Japan donated this ferry to serve on the  daily route from Malta to Tripoli, in order to take away some of the tension in the Middle East...

Leaving Valletta harbour, ready to turn due south for the West-African coast...

Image

Off-course, on a vessel like this, the turnratio isn't exactly short!

Image

Passing the south side of Malta... the cliffs will be our last view on the island...

Image

An endless stretch of clear blue water after that... I love the Mediterrenean...

Image

Dusk was setting in as we finally reached the shores of West-Africa... Tripoli emerged in front of us...

Image

The sandcolour buildings lit up in the evening sun... what a sight! I can allready hear the Muezzin call for the evening prayer... Magical moment...

Image

Time to head for a hotel, before visiting the city tomorrow...

Goodnight everyone!

Cheers,

Omag

These shots are great Omag. I especially like the last two, I think you captured a really great sunsetting atmosphere!
