Very very soon within a couple days, the last C-141 will take off from Wright- Patterson AFB and land at the USAF Museum where it will remain for its life. The C-141 was a primary cargo aircraft for the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard. Best recognized as the "Hanoi Taxi" for being the first american cargo aircraft to bring home POW's during the Vietnam War. This beautiful aircraft will be making her final sounds soon. My Photos of this ol bird is in the Hanoi Taxi colors which will be present on the aircraft going to the USAF Museum in Dayton, OH. enjoy this ol gal.
It is, its not part of the airport airport, so the 141 is gonna takeoff from wright patt, do a lot of flybys and touch n gos and then set down for the last time. Burn her fuel off, and then well be laid to rest:(
When I was with the 437TH CRS at Charleston AFB, the TF-33 was the first engine I worked on. Mostly TR (Thrust Reverser) repair work until I moved to the 637TH MXS to do PW-100-F117 engine work on our (at the time) up and comming C-17 squadron. Great pics and she will definately be missed........but never forgotton...
