Level 10

Postby Katahu » Sun May 07, 2006 8:56 pm

I was trying out the latest release of Orbiter Space Flight Simulator [OSFS] and I have to say that I'm impressed with the work put into this sim. The following two shots demonstrate the new level 10 textures that are now supported by OSFS. However, curiosity compression has killed the cat.

If you look real closely at the ocean you can see water ripples.

Notice the ridges that are directly behind the ISS. Excellent detail.

Further exploring has revealed that the coast lines are out-freaking-standing and the rivers in the Kennedy Space Center area are close to crisp. The sim also incorporates a video tutorials on how to land the shuttle, travel to the moon, etc.

Martin Schweiger wrote the program that runs OSFS and I like to give kudos to this guy for adding in the special features such as the scenario editor and video tutorials.

Dont ya just love Orbiter ;D

The downside with the new 2006 version is that many of the older spacecraft dont work as well. :P

How do the Great Lakes look ;D ;D One of the poorly represented areas in FS9
What do I do you ask? I struggle! Then destroy! Then try to put back together what I just broke on accident.....
