Every screenshot looks like a desktop wallpaper. Looks like some sort of super hardcore sci-fi game.

Looks great, beautiful, complex eye candy....similar to X2 - The Threat. It is not much like Halo though  :)

Halo is an FPS with lots of action. The X series is more like a space (combat and trading) simulator involving flying across massive areas of space doing not very much but looking at the view, docking and speaking to people, buying/upgrading spacecraft, trading sci-fi type commodities and building up a huge empire, and fighting other spaceships.... there's a storyline too but nothing special.

I'd say it's very much a hardcore, space trading game, for die-hard fans of the genre only. The graphics soon lose their novelty, and then what? It goes off your hard drive... that's what happened to X2 on mine, and I like SF and spacecraft a lot. I got bored. But for the above-mentioned genre fans probably a dream come true  :D

Just my thoughts, would hate someone to go out and buy it thinking it's 'like Halo but better'.

Of course, I could be wrong... Waspiflab?
