Postby Clipper » Thu Feb 02, 2006 7:32 pm

Your votes were cast and we've determined a winner in the most interesting and unusual category to date "Oddities and Experimentals" The category proved to be popular as many of you posted pics and nominations, including the ultimate winner nominated by Gryshnak. And the winner is........

Horton HO 229

May I suggest that we make a poll purely about american manufactured planes?

I feel kinda sorry for them.....

Not...

Btw Working class nominee and probably the first u.s. winner

Douglas DC-3 ( I'f i'm thinking about the working class in the proper way which is quite hard since it is almost two in the morning)

You most definately are thinking with clarity! I'd be really surprised if the DC-3 didn't run away and hide with the category win... :)

Then the B57 would win.  ;D

Am curious what people will come up with.... The DC-3 is the only real Working Class plane I think. Well for most people.. Is it about planes that have been in service for a long time? If so then the B-52... and the Odd gloster Meteor which serves as a testbed for ejection seats.. and the Nimrod which is basically and upgraded Comet airframe... The cockpit is unbelievibly Spartanic!!!

But I guess I'm going to far in it already...

Ow yeah don't forget the Tiger moth and harvard... Loadsa pilots learned to fly on those!

Cheers and Goodnight to all

The "WorkingClass" category will unfortunately not include military jets, fighters or bombers. Think more along the lines of firefighting, air sea rescue, cropdusting, crane lifting, medical emergency, news reporting, towing, private business travel, cargo transport. The criteria?.. think along the lines of looks, flexibility, dependability, and  the aircrafts overall ability to serve mankind.  :) Coming soon!
