The Lines Have Been Drawn:Oddities & Experimentals

Postby Clipper » Mon Jan 30, 2006 7:10 am

It's that time again everyone, to nominate your choice for the most visually stunning aircraft in the "Oddities and Experimentals" class. In this class, it not necessarily the most beautiful that rules, it's the most bizarre, innovative or curious that dictates "The Best Of The Best" criteria. So let's dig deep into the aviation archives and come up with a suggestion that you feel merits selection into the "SimV Aviation Hall Of Fame." How wierd can you get? Post your typed selection for the upcoming poll in the pre-poll thread, and if you can come up with a screenie (preffered) or a small photo to enhance your selection, all the better!

[size=18]The perfect blend

I cant look past the B2. Not only because it is a strange yet attractive design but it's also a active and fully functional part of an air force not just some wierd design that hardly (if ever) flew.

Definition of an oddity: Downtown, busy metropolis at lunch hour...let's say Stockholm, maybe Los Angeles....the streets are packed with lunching office workers, tourists, students...beautiful sunny day. A 707 passes overhead, how many people look skyward or even take notice?...no-one.... Ten minutes later a Beech Starship makes a low pass over the downtown corridor, now how many people look up and say "Oh my god! What on earth is that? It's sooooo cool, I've never seen anything like it before!?.....99.9% of the crowd. The 0.01% who don't are SimV'ers running around explaining the Starship to anyone that'll lend an ear. Now that's an oddity!

Something tells me we're going to have a tough time getting a winner on this simply because there are so many choices.

Indeed it might need to be broken down into different categories - flying wings, canards, rotorcraft, etc

Appreciate the suggestions of breaking down the categories, let's continue with the nominations, then if there are enough choices to merit seperating them into categories, I will do so after the fact. Please do not post here, but on the Pre-Poll thread as we are over the 500k limit already...thanks and really enjoying your submissions so far!  :)
