There is some kind of glitch that keeps the afterburner on. I haven't figured it out yet! I keep going back to the original F14 arifile to figure it out. But I think the new update that fixes the nav lights has something to do with it!
Its only in your mind, strong mind, strong soul and nobody can take that from you!

ok let me rephrase, my burner only used to show up when i turned the lights on.  Now that problem is fixed and i dont have to turn on my lights not to see the burner, i only have to accelerate past 94%.

I don't see any lights on though

the reason for this is i was using F1 View and also the Thunderstorm setting for this shot luckly when this shot was taken the lightning had just shot across the screen.... thats why there are no lights.

Thanks for your comments everyone

Do you remember that fix for the afterburners? It gets a little annoying.

about the retirement of the Tomcat... it is sad... but the aircraft is truly needed, the B-52 was supposed to be pushed out of service by the 70s when the B-1As were coming along... B-1As were too expensive the B-52 stayed... 80s B-1B got into service but was used for an entirly different style of bombing... B-52 stayed i think the same kind of thing is going to happen with the F-14 the new one wont be able to do the same job as our beloved F-14 so will be assigned a different style of combat and the F-14s service life be extended fact is the aircraft is just too important to get rid of anytime soon same as the B-52 thoughts are this 50 year old bomber will see another 50 years truly making aviation history we built something so damn nice we just cant build anything better... F-14 is the same way JSF just wont be able to do the same job carry the same weapons and dogfight the same the military will see this then say why bother it would be just as expensive as creating a new training program

just my thoughts im sure others will disagree and im sure many people in the ranks of the military have been discussing all this... if they do decide to really end it for the 14... it wont be as soon as they are saying

The last 2 active F-14 Squadron are the VF-31 Tomcatters and the VF-213 Black Lions. The Black lions return from deployment in May of this year, they're scheduled to transition to Hornets right away. The Tomcatters will be around till september.

It is sad to see it go, but don't count on seeing them remain In the fleet. The Tomcat had a good run. It was in the Navy's inventory for 36 years.

The F/A-18 replaced not only your F-14, but my beloved A-6 as well as the A-7 Corsair. It'll definitely be a while before anything comes along as beautiful as Tomcat. The Hornet is one butt ugly jet as far as I'm concerned, but it's a capable fighter as well as attack bird. The joint Strike Fighter and the Raptor don't have the sweet lines of the Tomcat either. In a competition for beauty, unfortunately, I think the leader is now the Euro Fighter.
