its an F-5E Tiger II but the paint of a "MiG 28" the MiG 28 is fictional the producers of Top Gun couldnt get a real MiG so made their own out of an F-5E and an F-5F (2 seater aka T-38 Talon) Mikoyan Gurevich doesnt use even numbers when naming their aircraft: MiG 15, MiG 17, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31 so on so forth and F-5s are used in the Naval Combat school known as "Top Gun" at Miramar Cal. but in the movie they used A-4s (they also use A-4s at Top Gun) but they never used one F-5 in those scences cuz of the "similarities" of the F-5E and "MiG 28" though the F-5E is used more then the A-4 at the real school lol lil history i guess... the F-5E is my favorite aircraft i know the background of it and the "MiG 28" alike lol
