a year or two ago a pair of USAF F-15's tried to jump a lone typhoon and both were "shot down" in mock combat over the UK   ;D

I like to find some type of real information relating to that. ::)

I like to find some type of real information relating to that. ::)

Here you go:

AirForces Monthy Magazine confirmed it in an earlier issue this year. :P
According to the article, the USAF pilots hadn't a clue what hit them untill they got back to base and were told about the Typhoon!  ;D   8)

The only jet to match the Eurofighter at present is the Raptor - but even that might be a close match when the later Tranche 3 Typhoons get into service...

That isn't known yet as the Americans won't let the Raptors and Typhoons see each other on excercises. :P

But lets not forget the EE Lightning was, and still is, a great aircraft.
It just lacked the range and ordinance carrying capabilities to make it truly outstanding...

Well in fairness to it it was designed specifically to defend UK airspace therefore eliminating the need for any great range and being a dedicated fighter aircraft it didn't need the huge carrying capacity required by multirole types.

Both. Although the performance is a close run thing though. I believe in trials the Lightning only just came out top.

Man.....dude-(mate) just plz be quite, your really getting on my nerves comparing a American Fighter to a English fighter, I can see your being proud which is great, but the F-16 will Smoke Your EE anytime. Like I said The EE could beat the F-14 in Menuverbillity and the F-14 would shoot the EE out of the sky. ;) ;D
