Indeed. They used them in the Falklands war where they prooved to be no match at all for the Harriers.

Well they were also twenty years older than the Harrier, too. :) That's like putting a Typhoon against and F-15. Who would win? :)

Not really. Both designs come from the 60's.

Never mind, Woody. You're right. The A-4 is from the early 50's, Harrier from the late 50's

So on paper they're both fairly evenly matched what with both being subsonic ground attack aircraft designed in the same decade.

actually F-15 v Typhoon, Typhoon DID kick the F-15 ass  8)

a year or two ago a pair of USAF F-15's tried to jump a lone typhoon and both were "shot down" in mock combat over the UK   ;D
