The Lines Have Been Drawn: Commercial Jets

Postby Clipper » Sun Jan 08, 2006 7:23 pm

If this isn't the most innovative, esthetic design ever in a commercial jet airliner, what is? Why not post a pic or type the name of your choice..... :)

"Comet"...Not only the first, but the most dramatic jet ever designed?

If you post a pic, please keep it under 50k.... :)

Does the Concorde qualify for this? If it does then I'd say that. The only airliner I've ever been and ever will be, I think interested in.

Edit - I only ever saw it fly once as well!

While it never entered service, and it ended it's short life hacked up in bits.
I think I'm going to go with the Avro Canada C-102 Jetliner.

The Comet has to be possibly the most important as it was the first commercial jet to fly accross the atlantic. However, Concorde IS (imho) the best looking aircraft of all time, period. Even right upto the end, in London were it was 'common place', if it flew overhead people would stop and point. No body's really going to do that for any of the other's, even the Comet.

What about the Tristar? Such an amazing plane. :)

But the best probably has to be Concorde. ;)

It's a close run between the Comet and Concorde for me. They're just both fantastic.

I had never heard of the Avro 102 before but now I WANT an fs model!! I would really like that! In the end however it wil not be my first choice. That WILL be Concorde

A unique airliner in all aspects and one that hasn't been improved on whatsoever. with the deccommissioning of this plane mankind took for the first time in the 20th/21st  century, a step backwards. I once saw a quote from  a man. How Am I going to explain to my daughter that we have to sit in a plane for over 7 hours to fly to europe when once we were able to do it in three.

I also think that it's by far the most beautifull airliner ever designed. At the IWM in duxford I had a look inside a couple of years ago and was impressed! Ive also been fortunate enough to see her flying a couple of times!

It is a classic. and even though the tecnology will improve and we will advance to speeds unthinkable. This plane wil in my views never be beaten!

TO CONCORDE!
