NEW TOMCAT REPAINT! MUST LOOK!!

Postby Phantom5000 » Tue Jan 10, 2006 3:14 am

This is by far my best repaint yet, this is a very fictional repaint but it shows american tradition and pride, this tomcat was based off a diecast model i found.

Looks very colourfull and you obviously got talent as a repainter...

Though you really ought to do something about the quality. You may have a weaker system or something, but this screen just shows it's also the capturing!

Try irfanview, a freeware viewer to capture and resize(!!!) the shots ( 800 x 600 and under 100 kb remember?). This shot has a tiny picture and a huge white surface... hardly appealing...

If you want help, just ask, cause I really think your shots deserve better... I want to see more of those paints!

Cheers,

Omag

Looks great but the quality of the shot will not let us appreciate the details...
You made a little error when resizing your shot. I think you did it with Paint ? Well in that case, you should use the "stretch" function in the Image menu :)

Hey Phantom... don't worry, we're here to help!

First, download irfanview from www.irfanview.com and install it!

Before you start FS, run the program. Go to options and choose capture. Set a hotkey ( if you press it, you'll take a screenshot, ex. when flying in FS) and don't forget to deselect include mouse cursor! In saving options, you should choose a folder where to save the screenshots. The program will put them there automatically, so you won't have to leave FS. Than press start and go flying!

Now, when you have your shots, choose file and open. Go to the folder where you've saved your shots. Click one one of them and you'll see it appear. Then resize it, using Image - resize/resample - there you can set the width to 800, the height will follow automatically. Than save the shot, using the file tab.

When uploading to simv, set the display settings to details when you browse for your shots... this way, you'll see how "heavy" each shot is.

I'm not sure if Irfanview allows to change the quality of the shot during saving, as I d my resizing in Photoshop. There you can determine how much kb the shot will be. But most of the times you'll see your shots will be under 100 kb using Irfanview!

I hope this helps!

Cheers,

Omag

PS... I took the liberty to resize the shot, one of the mods would have seen it eventually and it would have disappeared...  ;)

Waaaay better, but they are to big, all over 100 kb... hmm... I wonder why. Perhaps you can fly in full screen mode to remove the windowsbar?

Also, don't forget max. 500 kb in one thread.

Anyone else have bright ideas?
