You CAN get high frames

Postby Alphajet_Enthusiast » Sat Dec 31, 2005 1:43 pm

Im not saying any of you said you cant, but I heard someone recently say that even on a Geforce 7800 you cant get over 25 frames at the default KSEA.

Just to make the point:
Image
Fullest settings, screen res 1280x1024, Silver wings "nice day" and 80% traffic of PAI. :P

Image
Same settings, thunderstorm weather

Even though in the pic the frames are at 76, usually its more in the 40-50 zone at KSEA.

There, thats all I had to say, now hit me.   ;) ;D

I need ram.  This morning, I was flying over a 3000 ft overcast, at 500ft, and my frames dropped to 20  :'( :'( :'( :'(

Wish I could get 20fps at KSEA with settings on med-high, and resolution at 800 x 600 ::)

Like I said before frames over 25ish you cant see a difference n(With the human eye anyways) Very nice shot and a lotta leg room for the addons, Great shots! And even below 10 the eye cant really see a difference, half the time my CFS3 is probably 6-12.... Well Cheers, Gunny

20 fps is not bad at all, on my old system I was pretty happy with that!  :) :)

Skynoz, to get the frames display press shift+z twice.  ;) :)

they say you can't tell much of a difference beyond 20+ but that's impresive all the same alpha :) :)

Jake I don't think it's RAM you need. For instnace, I have 768MB DDR RAM, and even on the "Fair Weather" theme, my frames are about 10-15fps.

Just a thought  :)

Very nice!

I get around 60fps in that area, I have a lesser graphics card than you, but a faster processor.  I can see now that it would be a waste for me to upgrade to a 7800 at the moment ;D

they say you can't tell much of a difference beyond 20+ but that's impresive all the same alpha :) :)

And I do and always have claimed different! I believe they say 24fps is the limit to what we can differentiate, but I detect a noticeable difference between 24 and 30, I can also see a slight difference between 30 and 60...

Oh, and Jake,

I don't think RAM will solve your cloud problem, it's a rendering thing really... Even my PC takes a hit from FS9's clouds.  RAM may reduce 'stutters' and improve performance slightly but I don't think it will make a difference with the clouds.

I actually have very little effect from clouds. Putting three layers reduces the framerate by about 5-10, thats all, so im still rolling in the 50+, or should I say flying  :)
By the way, happy new year to all! Have a blast next year!  8) ;)

PS Isnt the official optical barrier 25 Frames? You cant see any faster than that... I notice anything lower than 20 frames so much its really annoying, the image seems to shock and however minutely it really takes the **** out of me, on my old system I really got annoyed with it sometimes.

Dont see the reason for flying the sim at 1280x1024 when you have a 19 inch tft monitor.  ???
I thought they are optimized for 1600x1200. I have a Dell 19' TFT and run the sim at maximum resolution.

You'll get a much crisper image quality aswell.  :)
