Horrendous ATC error

Postby rich747 » Wed Dec 28, 2005 12:28 pm

I flew a short hop from IAD-DFW in my CO 767 and upon approach I got told. "Follow the Air Canada 767 on final"

As I came on to short final I noticed the Air Canada aircraft had not vacated!

Look to the left, just in front of my aircraft

The tower might have screwed up, but the safety of your aircraft is still ultimately your responsibility.

My instructor taught me to never land untill landing aircraft have completely cleared the runway.

...So it's your fault for failing to initiate a go-around

A suggestion, in a case like this enter the "date and time" menu and put the clock one (1) minute forward or backward (your choice) and FS will make the evil 767 go away. ;D

ATC just provides suggestions, desicions are up to the pilots. Next time theres a plane on your runway just go around.

Was it possible, and was I sure it would not begin afresh, I'd swap place with you, at least for what the ATC is concerned. :(

Sometimes the default ATC it's just not worth the time. :-/

Nice shot's and looks like you need anit alising. Go----->settings----->display----->Hardware------>anti-aliasing...check the box and that's it. What that will do is make the edges of the aircraft more smoother. ;) ;D

Gota love FS ATC ::)

Go arounds can save you but cant get really old.  Flying for my VA I've passed through Dubai several times on my way from Europe to eastern Asia and vise versa.  I had personaly recorded every real life flight to and from Dubai of all 777s A330s and A340s and programed them in.  It didn't seem to matter what time of day or night i was arriving i would end up with a go around or stuck in a landing queve forever.  And this was with both runways active :-/  There was a couple of times I was low on fuel and didn't feel like following ATCs go around call.  Its not realistic and for the VA i probably shouldnt have done this but i just armed auto brakes to max, touched down right past the edge of the runway, and slammed the engines into reverse.  barely stopped in time but it worked ;)

I usually avoid taxiing blunders, but only with inches to spare. I get impatient at busy airports and take short cuts :P

Ay, generally it is my own fault for trying to take short cuts. Most of the time FS recognises it. ;)

meh, you dont need to have ATC errors, just follow a plane in on its approach, and get right on its tail!
