MD11 to Gardermoen

Postby killerbunny » Fri Dec 16, 2005 10:45 am

I already have this one for a while in my hangar, didn't use it much yet.  But now, I felt like taking this beautifull bird out for a nice little flight :)

Took this Swiss MD11 from Lugano to Oslo Gardermoen

At the runway, waiting for take off clearance

This is a rather nice VC :)

Some more cruising :)

Even more cruising ;D

On short final (without airspeed indicator, it failed for some reason)

And a nice, soft landing :)

This is the Overland MD11,  can be found here (not really easy to read the page, you'll see ;))
Repaints enough on Avsim

I hope you enjoyed this series :)

I think Im gonna give civil jets another go with this one, any suggestions for a good flight to "learn" on?

Try doing a LAS-LAX or vice versa. Provides a challenging take-off and landing with hills surrounding boths cities+good sights to be seen.
Where's the challenge in landing with wheels?

Okay, I cant fly big jets. Took it from auckland to christchurch, everything looked good on final, then I landed about 100ft before the runway.   Ill stick to my Otter NG ;D

Flying big jets requires some practice :)
And the way I see it : If you didn't crash, the landing is succesfull ;D

There's a pilot's saying that goes, 'any landing that you walk away from is a good landing'!

Very nice MD-11 and super shots as always Killer, i've got the iFDG MD-11 but it's a bit frame rate hungry for my system, i'll have to try that one.

Re the airspeed, did you forget to turn the pitot heater on?

Re the airspeed, did you forget to turn the pitot heater on?...

This MD11 is much more framerate friendly than the IFDG one.  Had the IFDG MD11 before and got rid of it as soon as I had the Overland MD11

And you're right, as there is no pitot heat switch on the panel I didn't activate it.  I should add one to the panel :)

Wow, very cool shots Killerbunny! :) Sad that they got rid of their MD-11s....

it failed for some reason

Are you sure your pitot heat and anti-ice was on in a cold weather flight like this?  ;)
