The scenery is from Holger Sandmann, genius at large. He's the mesh artist equivelant of Bill and Lynn Lyons.

Although successful, you forgot one of the P-80's most laughable failures. A target drone (retired F6F Hellcat if memory serves me right) went out of control and turned toward Los Angeles. A flight of P-80s were scrambled to intercept the hellcat and shoot it down while it was still over the desert and since the P-80 had no gun, it had to rely soley on its rocket pods, and the pilots could not hit the drone. Eventually it ran out of fuel and crashed into the suburbs sourrounding Los Angeles. Feel free to correct any mistakes, I'm relating this from an article I read in Air & Space a month or two ago.

It looks better with the Thunderbirds paint job.

The reason I don't fly it very often, is because it comes from an era when everyone was making ugly planes (and everything else as well, from ugly cars to ugly kitchen appliances).  I've seen a couple of these at museums this year, and frankly I didn't take many photos of them.  They're just not my thing.  Important bit of history, sure, just not very pretty.
