Some shots in Hawaii

Haven't made up my mind yet ...bit soon. But I keep finding chunks of the modern world sticking through. Also I'm obviously missing a texture because whole chunks of airports are black.

Might all be a little bit too much trouble, I dunno...... ???

Theres always some modern stuff.  Ir you want, you can back up your default Scenery\world\texture folder and replace it with the gw one to have the textures.

As far as the black taxiways, I think there is a solution. Here: http://mainescenery.proboards24.com/index.cgi?board=gold&action=display&thread=1129467079

I dont know if it works, but pretty sure it does.

Have fun in the golden age!

Hey Jake - thanks a lot. That did it. Made a big difference. Guess I was just feeling too lazy, or too tired or both. Now I'll have to give it a good try - maybe install a few big flying boats and things and see how it goes.

Thanks Mark.

I've put a few more vintage aircraft in - loads more to go  ;) but I have to say, for anyone who likes old-style flying, Golden Wings is well worth looking at. Bill Lyons has done a superb job modifying textures and stuff to give the sim a totally different feel.

I've decided to go no later than 1960s which will include my old Tripacer, but definitely no jets. Good ole piston warbirds now feel 'right' if you know what I mean. I'll also throw in some vintage carriers I think and do my AI trick with a few suitable planes to see how it goes.

The other good thing is when you lose the 'modern' default showcase airports, the naff FS9 standard airport buildings now fit in and look pretty good  :D

This is at San Diego - the Trimotor is AI and in GW none of the AI flies higher than 10000 ft. Great.

Well, Bill Lyons just wants you to be happy, so you can fly whatever you want.  Basically, I just fly what I normally fly: warbirds and prop planes.  I have a jet in there, but only for mp.

Great shots, and thanks to Jakemaster for the tip on the horrid black taxiways, I'm sure I read that they were intentionally that colour but... whatever. Will change mine tonight.

In my GW I also have propliner and jet ai from California Classics installed, as 'my' golden age extends up to the mid-70s - I love the early Boeings and European classics like the Caravelle and the VC-10... and at the same time the old stuff was still flying about...

Cheers

Great shots!
The scenery is very nice, and I often forget how nice are the default planes paintings. I have to try that GW, downloaded it already but not installed yet...

Yeah, the taxiways arent supposed to exist.  For some reason, certain graphics cards leave them as black.

Also, for all GW3 users: Be sure to get all the enhancements. IT adds real grass, makes lakes and rivers look better, and overall improves the look of the sim.
