CFS2 to FS2004: Hellcat

Postby Daube » Thu Nov 03, 2005 5:25 pm

Hi all,

I just love the way the default CFS2 planes look like in FS2004:
- the 3D model is not too bad
- the textures are (really) great
- the VC can be updated to 1024x1024 resolution to avoid blurry gauges
- the VC buttons (usually master switch, flaps, gears and magnetos) become clickable :D
- all the animations still work great (tail hook, folding wings, opening canopy, gears and flaps)

Today I played around with the Hellcat. Hope you like :)

Absolutely brilliant. Must try copying that one over myself. Textures and model look as good as the old FS2002 Corsair - not all the M$ default aircraft are rubbish  ;)

I will make a serie of similar posts to show each aircraft (corsair, wildcat, zero, george and lightning) later on.

The installation is really easy. Just copy the folder of that aricraft to the aircraft subfolder of FS9 and that's all. All the gauges and sounds are already there  :D

I did not try FS2002. Could it be that the Corsair you are mentioning is the same as the default CFS2 one ?

...and I wish most of the available freeware FS2004 planes could at least be as "rubish" as the M$ default ones  ;)

Thanks for the kind comments :)

My groud textures are a mix of:
- lennart's textures (lennarts_textures.zip)
- alaskan terrain textures (asktrn.zip)
- u.s._midwest_rural_textures_*.zip (those big cultivated fields)

That first pic is Hall of Fame worthy. Maybe without the lens flare, but stunning nonetheless. I agree the ground textures are brilliant. (See Dave, I'm learning all the time! ;))
