Just found this strange aircraft while downloading the P51 last night.... she's quite a fun little aircraft to fly.....

Taken about an hour after struggling to get her up to 15,000ft

heres the info that comes with this strange kite.....
William Samuel Henson (1812-1888) from the west of
England patented this design in 1843. Had engine
technology been up to the task, this would have
been the worlds first airliner, perhaps in service by
the 1850's!

Maximum Speed: 67 kts, Cruise Speed: 54 kts, Engine: 30hp Steam Engine, Maximum Gross Weight: 3000 lb, Length: 84 ft, Wingspan: 150 ft

And for a strange kite it does fly well, its possible to do aerobatics in if your careful...
thanks for your comments all

It never flew....

Nice pics - Yet again I find myself admiring the great blueish look you have there... did you install bluesphere twice or something...?

I'm not too sure if it did eventually go into service, if it did wouldn't that make it the first powered aircraft to achive flight?

Not necesarily*

*excuse me for my spelling
