Textures are 1024x1024 @ 682kb

originals are 256x256 @ 47kb

FS9.cfg file should have this entry under the [GRAPHICS] heading:

TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=1024

any lower and you will not see the new texture

It will have a small effect on frames depending on the angle being viewed and how good the video adapter/CPU is.

I do notice a minor amount of hit with an x800 @ 535-535 and an FX57 processor.

Hmmm....will try!

The thing that botherd me about this is that that changes your Global Texture Size to "Massive"

I usually have mine set on medium as I get "blurring attacks" whenever I have it any higher...

But that's us simmers...always trying to find that sweet spot!

You can still set it to medium but you just wont see the full range of texture. I would think it would still be better than the default texture set.

I am not sure what video card you are running but you can try the following in the FS9.cfg file with the setting on MASSIVE:

[DISPLAY.Device.XXXXXXXXX YOUR VIDEO CARD]
PanelAsTexture=0
TriLinear=1
RenderToTexture=0 (set to 1 if you crash)

[DISPLAY]
UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=28 (set to no less than 24)
TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400

[TERRAIN]
TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=100.000000
TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=10.000000
TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=100.000000
TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21
TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8
TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=5
TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1
TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1
TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.500000
TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=9.500000
TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4

It might clear up the bluries

[quote]I fear the FPS impact will be too violent for my computer.
My 6800 GT was so happy with the "low res" autogen replacement textures for cities... I'll give it a try anyway, but I know what to expect

BTW... is that koorbygen stuff used in other scenery?

Apparently in "Bird's Eye View" (Payware), too.

What with this, and Nick's new textures, and my new scenery mesh, and my new landclass overlay, and my new airport scenery, and the mods to the FS9.cfg file...

.....do I really need FS10... ;)... ;D... ;D... ;D...?

LOL... ;D...!

FS9 gets better every single day...8)...!
I'm really pleased with all these new effects...!

Paul....A good card, and a nippy processor, shows it all... ;)... ;D...!
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

Thanks fellas

Now what we reeeaally need is a chap like Nick who knows what he's about to do some of the other default textures so other parts of the world are sorted as well.

If it's a problem getting hold of suitable regional  images we've got guys from all over here on the forum who could probably help ;)

Hi Daube! I own a meager Geforce ti 4200 - 64 Mb card, and it runs the new Moscow scenery smoothly! I hardly expect a top-notch card as yours will suffer from this autogen!

I've just made some tests over New-York.
All my settings are max, excepted:
- view distance set to 96 kms (minimum)
- cloud distance set to 80 kms
- building shadows disabled.

I can just maintain the blocked 25 FPS in that situation.
If I enable the buidlings shadows, then I get bak to 22.
In any case, if I get into the virtual cockpit, I get down to 18-20 FPS.

My card is set on "quality", and oviously setting it to "performance" woud help, but the visuals would suffer a lot...

It helps to find the 'sweet-spot' for the frame lock. If your frame lock is too high you will actually get a lower frame average because the sim is placing all its resources into trying to maintain the frames. In example, if I run my X800 AIW at 32FPS (locked) with 100% UT traffic at KSEA and real world weather (heavy clouds) and fly the PMDG 747, my average frame count in the heavy load area will be around 17FPS with an increase to 24FPS as I fly over and out of Seattle. If I drop the lock to 28FPS the same flight will yeild an average frame increase to 21FPS with an increase to 26FPS as I fly over and out of Seattle. The sim will be much-much smoother.

Before I received my x800 AIW, I would keep my 9800pro locked at 22-24FPS with the same smooth results.

Allot of tweak sites say to set the FPS lock to unlimited. That actually hurts performance and ruins the visuals because the scenery will have blurries, especially in the distance. The truth is, using the "UNLIMITED" FPS feature is good for testing and finding the highest average frame rate in heavy load areas only. Once that is done, usually locking the FPS 1-2 frames lower than the unlimited "heavy-load" average will net the 'sweet-spot' for best performance with best visuals.

;D ;D ;D
I am not having any problems or glitches with mine....... yet, I should add.  I do have a high end computer tho'.  But I think these changes have made FS9 a "sweeter" place to fly.
Love it
Cheers

Yes, it is.
"Korbygen" is just one of the alternate  city/town buildings  autogen packs that is included with "Birds Eye View."
Korbygen looks even better (much better) when coupled with the BEV city and farmland textures etc!  :)
Home airports are KMGJ and KSWF in Orange County, NY
Stop by and say hello. :)
