An enormous improvement.......

Postby RollerBall » Thu Oct 20, 2005 1:57 pm

...... and so simple.

You sleuths who keep your eye out for new files probably know all about this already, but I've only just come across it. Koorbygen. New textures for all the autogen in North America. Away go all those smudged, fuzzy, horrible old default autogen buildings and in come new, modern, realistic houses, apartment buildings and office blocks. Take a look for yourself. I just did a short hop in Chicago and I'm totally convinced. And just take a look at the dusk and night shots.. ;)

All done just by replacing 4 texture files (2 day, 2 night).

The file is called koorbygn.zip and I found it over at FSDome. The author doesn't appear to give his name and only the North America textures have been done. Just hope he's working on all the others as well.

BTW I think that white house next to the tree in the first shot is Amos's pad

Thanks guys - glad you like it. Here are some shots in NY. Remember, these aren't 'feature' buildings - just general autogen.

I've never found flying low amongst the city buildings very convincing - up to now. Must say, these textures help a lot and might do more of it in future.

I found it as "koorbygn" (no "e"). Can't wait to try it tonight!

I fear the FPS impact will be too violent for my computer.
My 6800 GT was so happy with the "low res" autogen replacement textures for cities... I'll give it a try anyway, but I know what to expect

What a great find rollerball. I agree there's an enormous difference in the buildings. Thanks for the heads up and the effort to show it so well. ..Clipper
