Hm, if you try to make that one DXT, you could maybe get it below 100Kb.

I've tried them, but found them way too overcoloured.

- Edit: I'll give them another try nonetheless. Let's see how they work together with neuwald.zip (forest textures).

With as much add-ons as I have, I have to use Render To Texture or my FS crashes anyways...

There is a texture involved that causes that crash. I would locate it and eliminate it.

If you are using a DXT cumulous01.bmp or other dxt cloud textures, that is most likely the cause.

I avoid 'render to texture' at all costs.

"render to texture" is a frame killer. Even on my x850 pro PE and my x800 AIW and an FX57 processor, enabling render to texture will cause studders and a loss of frames.

Haven't had problems with it and my frames are okay, too with everything really maxed out.

That is why it has been very dificult to find layers of textures that work together and that retain the crisp visual appeal.

Yeah, quite a problem with clouds. :/

Hopefully MS will fix the ground and water texture issues in FS10.

I'd like to see an entirely new engine in FS10 with more accurate mesh, landclass and way better autogen. If there can be billions of add-on meshes and landclass modifications out there, MS could incorporate those things as well.

I am just about ready to package the water/sunset/sunrise mix

After some serious editing I have come up with a very dynamic water package that changes with the weather/time of day and in my opinion is the best water I have seen to date... After the amount of editing I have done, the orginal textures do not really exist anymore and although the textures are based on other packages the end result is my artwork.

heres some sneak previews of the same shot from morning (around 8am) till sunset at the same angle

I noticed the compression removed some of the color.. the water is actually just a very slight touch more of gray/green in the sim and in the original bitmap snags

Terribly sorry, but I'm a little lazy with reading all the posts, and understanding them, but when is this going to be available.

Again, terribly sorry if it's been covered.

Will the textures come in seperate files (in the same zip)? I.e. Water, Clouds, Sky, Ground. Because, obviously, some people will have custom sky/water/cloud/ground textures and may prefer them over other parts. Of course, it's just a matter of taste, but I really like my sunset textures. From looking out of my window at night, the textures I have are just about spot on.

Looking good, Nick. I am sure to try it when you upload it.

Thing is, how long did it take to download all of that terrain mesh? That's what's been putting me off downloading everything...2mbps connection, but it's the fact that it isn't click and be done with it. There's so many files!

Tweek, there is a very simple solution to that problem. Use a download manager and select all files to download. Leave it running for a day and you should have all files. It took me approx. 20 hours to get them all (1.6Mbps DSL connection).

Easy Flyer.

I will probably release the water/sun/sunrise-sunset/stars as 1 package and the clouds in another.

There will be no ground textures. I use Fscene. Fscene has a free download for trees and the the best (defined) free ground textures are the colorized texture sets at AVSIM. (in my opinion)

The water has turned out better than I had hoped for.
