At Zurich airport, an Swiss MD-11 is doing an engine runup after new engine was installed due to low EPR.

MD-11 positioned up at runup ducts.

Run-up ducts?  Where did those come from?

Midnight I think Jordan meant where did you get them from? I've not seen them for FS before either!

Go to avsim.com and download:

Zuerich.zip which is the FS2002 verison

then download zurich.zip to update it to FS9.

The runup area is on the far right side of all the terminals, before the hangers.

At the same time I wonder if they have an strict arrival and departure route for noise abatement.

They have. There was an argument not long ago with Germany about some nightly approach paths over german territory. Don't know how it turned out.

It's not just noise. But also a safety device. If there is any debrit behind the engines it wont get blown into other aircrafts path or onto the runway/taxiway. It also stops people or cars behind it from getting injured by a full run-up, as that can bust out a cars window without any problem.
