ID4: part 3 A... Okhotsk dash...

Postby krigl » Thu Oct 13, 2005 4:15 pm

Awakening alone in the tent on the sand I hear muffled voices outside mingled with the crash of the surf. Stumbling out into the misty gloom of a Siberian autumn morning, I find the other 3 busy pushing the Yak-12 into the sea.

"What the hell are you doing?!!"

"About time you got up, boney," says Lena, eying my gaunt frame. "Vassily's 'boys' are coming". And sure enough, they soon appeared, the steady drone of the An-2's prop heard long before it emerged from the fog.

As it glided in I asked the General "Hey Vassily, so these are the boys who are taking us to Kamchatka! Do they know you're a 'traitor'?"

"Nope, they're in the dark, I kept them that way, with a remote post and plenty of vodka. And they report only to me. They are slovenly drunkards, good for nothing. Like many of their type that I've sent to Magadan. I thought these two might come in useful though... lucky I did, eh?"

They touched down in a mess of spray and we threw our kit into bags and climbed aboard.

We headed out over the headland and over the Sea of Okhotsk, still shrouded in mist, nice and low. "I hope the weather holds" said Dmitri. "Yes" said Vassily "It will make us hard to spot.

Krigl, you are making a great story here. Love those shots. Keep them coming, please. I know it must be hard to come up with a good story and making screenshots that match (or the other way around) but you are doing great. Maybe once the story is finished put them all together and make some sort of online book of it?

Some of your best in there Krigl.
Some questions:
What graphic Card you have and how much Ram memory?
Where did you get the An-2?
And what water texture is that?
That Mig 19 is still one of the best fs9 add onds...sure the best military model without vc.
Real good indeed....the lights are really impressive...

I think the AN-2 Colt can be found here at simviation or on flightsim. I had it since a long time and those are the two only sites I used for downloading stuff.

I'm also very interested in the water.
I think you installed those alternative waves ? ( the ones going onto the ground, not the ones in the middle of the water)

And yes, that Mig-19 looks really great.....too bad it has no VC, I would really like to fly it. The only thing getting close is the Mig-15, but the textures I have are not that beautifull...

Thanks a lot for your kind comments! It's very encouraging to recieve them :)

The waves are probably from the Lyons's Golden Wings package, Daube, I have Waterzone installed on top of their water.

Fitter, yes, I agree about the MiG, love it. The lights are from some special "improved nav lights' package which looks good in many cases though sometimes it shines through 'solid' parts of the plane... and turns certain afterburner effects into christmas lights.

As for the specs, Fitter, I can't remember the card now but it's not ultimate high end. Ram is 1024, processor Athlon 3.2GB. I have a 250GB drive dedicated only to flight sim... but you can take half-decent pictures on any reasonable machine...

I got both planes from Avsim.ru. Click on the link then look at the red writing. Above it is a link. Click on that and you've got the download.

You can get the An-2 here
http://www.avsim.ru/files.phtml?action=download&id=2434

You can get the Mig here
http://www.avsim.ru/files.phtml?action=download&id=1796

Yes, Easy Flyer, I might put it on my half-a$$ed and incomplete screenshots website when it's done. But it takes so long! Well, for now...

...thanks a lot once again, guys

Regards

Krigl
