Portland 747 attempt

Postby Sytse » Sat Oct 08, 2005 5:10 am

Let's stop talking about it and try to do it ey?!
Took 2% fuel in center tank and well...
Here goes nothing...

Shot from the office, note the speed.

Making a sneaky approach... (yeah right! in a 747!! :P)
Image

"Uuh... Pete? Did you do something 'funny' to my binoculars? I see a 747 on final..."
Image

Aw man, that is one short runway!!  :-[
Deploying spoilers, speed is now 120!
Image

Baah... missed a few yards!  :-/ Speed is 100.
Image

I just love the smell of burning rubber in the mornin' ! ;D
Image

This is how it all ended... Didn't manage to stop on the tarmac, but at least the plane/crew is still alive!  8)

Good attempt :) I think I've started a little game going here! Try it with the wind blowing in your direction, so it could help slow you down on the ground perhaps, and maybe create a little more lift so your stall speed is lower.

Thanks, but I don't like the 'wind-idea'. I experimented with windspeeds of 200 kts a while ago. You could just land her vertically. There were no winds in my attempt.

Or the AN-225!

Why don't you guys try it?  :)

The ultimate test. Try getting a 727 with realistic flight dynamics on and off the strip. Cool attempt ;) :)

That reminds me, it has to be done with full realistic flight dynamics! Where's the real challenge if it isn't? :P

Why do you need the code if you know the name?  ::)
