Nicks Prop Dust v2.0 Has Been Released

Postby NicksFXHouse » Wed Sep 28, 2005 11:42 pm

NICKS ALL WET should be released this weekend. It will come with an entire update for NICKS PROP DUST to version 2.0

WAS RELEASED AT 10PM PST SEPTEMBER 30TH

The new land and water prop dust/wash FX in Nicks Prop Dust V2 are quite nice and much, MUCH better than the originals.

Nicks ALL Wet is seaplane bow and skid splash/mist FX and will be part of that update. There will be an option to install only Nicks ALL Wet as opposed to the entire Nicks Prop Dust package. There are no prop water mist and wash FX in Nicks ALL Wet, just bow, splash, mist, swirling mist and water droplet FX along with a few other ground FX.

In both packages, as the seaplane barrels through the water the 2D and VC winshield gets splashed with water droplets and mist which disipate/dissapear as the aircraft lifts out of the water.

Here are a few preview shots of the final water FX. The screenshots include the full Nicks Prop Dust V2 package (prop wash and thrusting prop mist)

Here are a few more shots on land. The screenshots do not present a really great show of the FX because they are very animated and pics cannot capture the action taking place.

If you already use Nicks Prop Dust then the update will only require you run the FX and gauge installer as the FX file names are exactly the same. There may be a few aircraft you might have to lower the ground height of the FX from the [LIGHTS] lines such as C-130 military scale aircraft (from C-10ft to C-20ft) and small Amphibians will go from C-6ft to C-10ft but everything else should function the same with the original formulas from NPD.

actually.,.. There is one other change

I also discovered allot of the default Microsoft prop aircraft have improper engine locations. I updated and provided a new 'cut-n-paste' TXT file which locates the FX correctly for all the MS default prop aircraft. I will also provide a TXT file for the water and land aircraft I used for developing the FX.

Note to everyone:
If there is a seaplane, amphibian or other land based plane/helicopter that you would like me to provided a 'cut-n-paste' TXT file for, list them here and a link to their location. So far I have:

Lynn and Bill Lyons Classic Goose

Lynn and Bill Lyons Golden Hawaii Sikorsky S-43

Aerosoft Beaver

the look great.  BTW i am in search of a good water texture.  I ahve DL most of them and currently have lyons installed.  It looks great from altitude but down low it is questionable.  Your water lookes pretty good.  what do use?
