EQDC3: Leg 8, part 4

"Report runway in sight"... and there it is. It's been almost 12 hours; a little better than I'd hoped. but I wish it was daytime...

Glideslope looking good... man, this is much better than that time at Babullah!

Image

Over the threshold, I'm looking pretty good height and airspeed-wise...
Image

But in the flare, the wind shifts or something- I'm all over the place... wind up floating as i try to correct, and she rolls off the runway's end at 20 knots with the tail just touching the ground. No damage, but it's annoying...
Image

Map shows I was pretty much on course when I filed IFR... not bad.

Next: Quick hop to Sao Tome!

Glad to see you made it safely. I actually find night landings relaxing. If you keep your head up and the winds are kind to you..it's like an oasis appears out of nowhere. Great fun trip RD. I'll keep an eye out for Sao Tome..Cheers Clip  :)

Yes, the night approach is great, when someone is telling you where to turn or you're following the beam... especially after popping thru a layer of cloud. And I've come to the conclusion that I  can't properly land that beast at night or in the daytime...;D

That was the last for that leg, but I've got the Atlantic and South America to go before the whole journey is over...

That's it... jinx me, why dontcha...
>:(
;)
;D

Haven't got very creative with the storytelling on the last few posts, only because nothing weird has happened. To be honest, it's getting pretty boring.
Maybe I'll enable some random failures for the last leg...

that would make a good story line. I'm doing a fairly intense story line around my RTW. All i'm saying is Todd isn't who he says he is
