After wondering at Rottydaddy's massive navigational orgy I decided to learn how to navigate properly...instead of flying Blackbirds and Jumbos by the seat of my pants...so I downloaded the first few lessons from

as suggested by David Marshall in his Tips and Tricks Volume 14 on Avsim. It's packed full of useful stuff for the new and without a clue.... like me

However the point was made that it's not much good learning to navigate if you can't actually fly... and suggested doing circuits and to really learn one plane's "numbers". So, gritting my teeth, that's what I did, in the good ol' 172.
This 'Sekiu' textured 172 was painted by the same guy who did the Avalon 172 in Spitroast's comp shot....
His nav stuff includes lots of practice flights, mainly around New England and Florida.... so I made sure I downloaded both Freeflow sceneries first so I had somewhere nice to fly... when not doing circuits in the mist and staring at my instruments that is....
It was pretty boring but I'm looking forward to doing some Proper Navigation soon. I'm sure you'll all keep your fingers crossed for me...

Anyway, I then felt like a change from all that grey mist so went to Golden Hawaii and loaded up the dramatic sounding Tropical Storm scenario....Nooo... grey and misty again, and an S43 on the beach. I felt like treating myself, so I slammed in this beauty: the Alpha Bleu Ciel Corsair by Guy Hulin...
Walking on the beaches, looking at the peaches.
It shot off the beach like splashed cat.
Surf's up.
The silvery beast powered up into the sky....
Reel 'em in.
...engine thundering, ready to break through the clouds into the wide blue...

up and up until I felt I was losing power...
Leave it all behind.
...we never broke out of the grey, the Corsair reached its ceiling and the only thing to do was go back down... grey, grey, grey.
Grimly trudging bedwards, I resolved that the ABC Corsair would fly again....and it did....and in the wide blue yonder too... rest of pictures tomorrow...
Off to bed again, got to get up early tomorrow...
