Amsterdam to Houston...KLM 747-400

Postby Triple_7 » Sun Sep 04, 2005 1:57 pm

Downloaded this gem awhile back and decided to put her to use.  I like several airline schemes and used to hate this one...But now its growing on me :P  Main reason for heavy flights lately is because I only need 10 more flights to qualify for a promotion...But I also need to rack up another 100 hours as well ;)

Holding short.  MD-11 taking off for Vancouver in traditional 3-holer "rocket" style.

Up we go.  Its around 10:45 AM.

Looking out at Schiphol...including the Polderbaan.

FL380 over Fort Wayne.
Image
Inbound to 33R.  Not as lined up as it appears...Nice crosswind to deal with.
Image
Full brakes...Came in hot and heavy.  158 knot touchdown :-[Image
Overall smooth flight.  Great timing as well.  Arrived at the gate just 2 minutes early :)  13:38 still have time to catch a late lunch.

How do yous guys get your edges so clean and sharp? I have jaggies, jaggies, jaggies on my planes (which are only the ones you get in the FS2002 box). Are there some settings I can make to increase the visual quality of what I see on my screen? Your images look like artist renderings; mine look like 1980s video games.

when you open up FS click settings and then go on display, this should help you.

Did so, just now. I set everything to the absolute maximum, highest, densest levels possible and clicked X on all four of those boxes to the lower right. I compromised a little and set max vis at 60 miles and clouds to zero (I don't like clouds...). We'll see what happens next time I fire up FS; probably tonight. Right now, I'm feeling like taking my CAR-15 out and draining some 30-round magazines...

Haven't gone shooting yet-- the desire to see smooth airplanes got to me. I went to Settings, then to Display and there I see three tabs upon which to click. I never noticed that there are also Aircraft and Hardware tabs. I set everything to maximum, save for something about framerates (at a loss as to what those are), which I set at 75. I have just about everything maxed and Filtering set to bi-level (whatever that is...). I don't see much in the way of a slow-down in how the 747 flies and the instruments in 2D and VC are much clearer. What I don't like is when I tried setting the screen resolution to the max of 1600x1200x32 (or maybe 16-- can't remember), the dialog box gets really small. I guess I can live with this to see those smooth edges.
