Choctaw

Postby Ecko » Tue Sep 06, 2005 10:46 am

Hey guys! ;)

These last few weeks I have been refreshing my helo skills, and while doing that, I found this great little copter, the CH43 Choctaw. Now thats a weird name, but a cool helo! :)

I flew around somewhere in England, and bumped into some interesting scenery, at first I thought it was the default, but it wasnt, it was much better!

Somewhere near Barkston AB.

An Airbase really close to Barkston, with some nice scenery, and trucks! ;D

I don't remember downloading this scenery, but I must have, cause it's defenitely not default!
Image

As you can see, the scenery is very detailed. :o

Parked in a hangar at the unknown airbase.

The little copter is available here at SimV, and I don't know about the scenery, cause I didnt get the ICAO code. But it is the closest airbase to Barkston AB.

Hey Ecko, if you like that chopper I can send you a recent pic of a choctaw from the Army Aviation Museum at Ft. Rucker.  Not the best pic (crappy dig cam) but the chopper is in good shape (indoors) and has the VIP White over Green paint scheme.  I check the forums as often as possible so send me a PM if you want the pic.

I have other pics from the museum if anyone wants one.  Early Cobras, gunship Hueys, an early Blackhawk, and a couple rare ones like the Mojave and the Cheyenne.  Its a nice museum, just limited in space.  They used to have many more statics before building the new, er, building, but still have a couple one-off prototypes wasting away outside.  XCH-52 anyone?  Kestrel?  How about a Chinook with a four-bladed rotor head and large wings on each side?  There are a couple cool things still there.  I am still trying to find someone who can get me into the old buildings where some hidden craft can be found.

Flew it in there, though it actually is quiet taxiable (I really don't know if that word exists ;D).

:) ;)

Can't show you a pic as I don't have a working FS just now, but because I have this heli flying as AI of the SF carrier, I did a grey Navy version. Don't know if there is such a thing but it looks very nice.

Sounds cool! There is one other scheme for this chopper, it's the US Coast Guard, very nice paint! :)
