Tower Bridge Stunt

Postby Sytse » Tue Aug 09, 2005 5:46 am

Gotta love vectored thrust.  ;D I saw a jet (I think it was a vulcan) flying like this at an airshow a few years ago. Obviously not trough the famous London bridge.

Here you see a mirage doing some unconventional flying:

Approaching the bridge, deploying airbrakes.

Pulling into 'hovering' position.

A few seconds for final adjustments.

Just fits through  :-[Image

I made it!  :D Full throttle and nose down.

8) Victory roll. YEEEHAAAAW!!!  ;D

Hope you enjoyed,

Pigeon.

Dude! I don't mean vertical thrust! I know what I've seen and it wasn't a harrier, nor a JSF or sumtin like that. It was a jet that wasn't supposed to do that, but it just did.
Edit: and does a harrier hover like that ? ? ?

Argh! Just take what I'm saying for granted, please! It wasn't a Flanker doing a cobra. It was a delta-wing-shaped fighter jet and it hovered at about 30 ft above the runway for like 10 seconds. It was going very slow, far beneath stall spead, but the pilot used the thrust to hover. Just like I did here...

Many fighters can do that. Myself, I've seen an F-16, A-10, F-15, and even a Tornado do that.

Neat stunt anyway.

Nice stunt!  I know many planes can do that, and it's pretty cool to see!

That must have put some serious strain on the engines though.
