A Fish Too Far..............

Postby TSC. » Mon Aug 08, 2005 4:30 pm

Well, we'd been at 'Foxcamp' for a couple of days now & although it was fun - the practical jokes were starting to get a little out of hand. It took me ages to get this fire started & then this happens:
Image
Some of the lads had mentioned a smaller camp just 8 miles north east of here - 'Fox Outpost 1' - so we decided to go looking for it - if you can say 'Coors' Omag, there's room for another :D:

None of us had been to 'Fox Outpost 1' before, so it was now down to some good old fashioned bush flying - following our noses & looking for a small lake. We thought this was it at first, but a low pass revealed no camp site:

Figuring that we must've missed the camp we head back west:

Just clearing the ridge we spotted what appeared to be a small campsite at the far end of this lake - where the lighter coloured trees are:
Image
No luxuries like a makeshift runway here, this made the landing a little bit 'hairy' to say the least:
Image
Parked up, we were pleased to see enough room for a few more tents & another campfire:

Nice too see a jeep was on hand for scooting around the shoreline to get to the best fishing spots aswell:

Back to Hanks tomorrow & back to work aswell.

Scenery from here:'Foxcamp' & 'Fox Outpost 1' both camps come in the same file.

Cheers,

TSC.

You gonna write a book on your adventures out there when you are done? I'd buy it!  ;D

Speaking of that first plane.  If it's the one I'm thinking of, then it flew 75 ft or so over Interstate 5 while we went right under it in our Camry.  Very cool.  Lovely shots as well.
