A clue

Got the car gassed up; battery charged in the new camera, SD card, etc., and I'm about to hit the road. Here's a clue to where I'm going...

Funny you should say that:
Got there later than I'd planned; too late to get a seat for a ride before the show (they were only flying one D25 today). So... not only did the clouds suddenly roll in just as the show started, at the precise moment the last plane from the show was parked, it began to rain... complete with thunder and lightning. I hung around for a while, hoping they'd give me a ride if the rain stopped, but of course at the exact instant they finally gave up and put the New Standard in its hangar (then a Stearman behind it)... the clouds parted and the rain stopped.
Oh well... I had fun anyway, and managed to take a few decent pix despite the poor light. Soon as I get that cable I need, I'll post some of them.

If anyone's still wondering, I went here:

And for those who like that model:
I don't recall where I got that plane; maybe here. It's a New Standard D-25; they were made in the 1920s for hauling mail and giving rides.

Sounds like a typical air show day over here. ::) ;)

Ah well, never mind. I'm dying to see those photos so get a move on. :P

Don't tell me, tell FedEx... cable should arrive today.

The weather thing was freaky: I mean, a quick boomer is typical around there this time of year, but the timing was truly as described. It was uncanny. Rain was expected that afternoon, but not quite so early. When I got there, I thought: better get a ticket for the biplane first... but hardly anyone had shown up yet, so I thought for sure I could just stroll over 1/2 hour before showtime and get in the air well before the storm arrived...noticed there was only one D25 flying, but it didn't click, for some reason. Guess I was distracted by the prospect of taking a ton of photos in the hangars before the show...
Went over to the hangars to take pictures, and when I returned to the flight line, the place was packed, and the biplane sign-up book was filling up.
But yes, I imagine in Old Blighty it's even more frustrating... ;D
Maybe you should move to Florida; I know another Brit who's been living there for years- he's brown as a nut now, and happy as a clam.
I've considered it myself, but I'd miss the hills,  and my two favorite seasons, spring and autumn. Then there's the horror of summertime down there... :P

Duh, right- Hudson, is it? Wasn't it you I was recently chiding for not checking people's info?  :-[
I've been  dropping by there for years, but this was the first time I actually chatted for any length of time with any of the pilots, and even filled out a volunteer form (I never felt I'd have time for it- still don't, but what the heck!).
The guy I talked to said they could mostly use help with their fleet of old cars, but that'c cool- I love tinkering with old cars! But I'd love to work on the aircraft, or even just help wrangle them.
If you haven't been there lately, go check out the Ryan "Spirit" replica; it's coming along nicely!!
