Sunday afternoon Peace & Quiet.

Postby TSC. » Sun Jul 31, 2005 8:59 am

Just decided to give gliding a whirl - mainly just for the peace & quiet.

It was - erm - slow, interesting, but sloooooooow. Which was obvious really - just too slow for my likeing:

The peace & quiet, initially, is really nice. But it wasn't long before I started to get bored:

Still - some of it was interesting:

Second attempt at landing - I came in way too fast the first time & completely stuffed it up:

On target, but still going too fast - spoilers fully deployed:
Image
I nearly put 'er on 'er nose with too much braking - made harder by the fact that I still have to try & keep the wing tips off the ground:
Image
It was a rough landing - with lots of scraping going on. I decided not to try & park properly, instead I just left the glider where it stopped & ran off into the wilderness - oh the shame :-[Image
So if any of you are flying a chopper near Granby-Grand Co, Colorado (KGNB) - I need a lift home on the quiet!
Cheers,

TSC.

So many hours motorized, I've never glidden, looks like fun, for about a second or two...how do get an AI to tow you airborne?  ;)

So... you think soaring is boring, eh? That landing looked pretty exciting. :D
It's funny how they seem so slow, but when it's time to slow down you realize how slippery a modern sailplane really is!  ;D

Strangely enough, that is absolutely true - I didn't realise just how fast it was going until I totally overshot the first landing - in real life I would probably have stuffed it into the woods beyond the airfield.

the deflut glider for me wond even lift off the gound..

You can either use slew mode to get you to the correct height or go into 'World' & then 'Map' & change your altitude there.

Cheers,
