'Round the World, Pt 1!

Postby DJ_Zephyr » Fri Jul 29, 2005 3:52 pm

I'm goin' for the big one this time, a round-the-world trip!  I've got a B-29 full of fuel and a big selection of MP3s all ready for the trip, and I'm takin' pictures!

Here's some of the early-morning send-off at the old abandoned airfield in Hong Kong!

The plane of choice.  A B-29 I've nicknamed the "Dazed N Confused."

Starting this sucker up causes smog warnings in distant towns...

Full flaps, full roar.  I can hear car alarms going off right about now!

Putting all that noisy power to work; take-offs are a chore in this beast!

But it's all worth it!  We're on our way!

There's a lot of ocean between us and Saipan Intl.  But that doesn't mean it'll be boring! ;)

Tom Kohler's big bird can be found here: http://www.simviation.com/fs2004vintage35.htm  It's a beautifully made plane with tons of power and an enormous range!  I'll get part 2 up tomorrow, no telling when I'll finally get around to completing the run to Saipan!

Hardly believable such big birds do get off the ground!

Good luck on your trip!

A B-29?!  That was one of the more dangerous birds to fly...watch that engine temperature!

Will be watching!
