raptor with yellow blobs

Postby krigl » Thu Jul 21, 2005 1:07 pm

Hi there, first post in this section of the forums, glad to be here! Here are a few more pics from the same series as "Culture GCU Softly Softly" which I took when my computer freaked out over Kazanori Ito's Raptor last night....

In the last one it can be seen the effect seems to come from the wing rather than the engines so maybe it's a condensation effect rather than the burners. I also get it with Dino Cattaneo's F14 and the wakes of some downloaded boats and floatplanes... Anyone else get something like this?

Hope you liked them, thanks for looking!

Thanks, PianoMan, it's a cool place to be...

for Tom_M: thanks for the comments, I'm not computer oriented at all so I have to admit that I don't actually know what's in the grey box, or at least nothing specific enough to satisfy your hunger for knowledge: no idea about drivers, card is some kind of Excalibur X700 Pro, processor is Athlon 64 3200 Winchester socket 939, Ram 1GB. I wasn't watching FPS but everything was flowing smoothly so I guess over 20 or so.

Er... I think it's a problem with the contrails, and it also happens with boat wake effects, the lights remain for a very long time, seperate into individual globes, and occasionally float off by themselves. From a distance it makes an ugly bright yellow/greenish ball... maybe I'll post some F14 shots with this interesting phenomena...

Don't worry Clipper, I'm so addicted to screenies that I hardly ever really FLY any more, not that I'm a hard-core simmer in any case.... soon you'll be sick of all my posts ;D

I hope not though :)

Looks like a flare release effect, which obviously needs to be toggled on or off...

A good point, it does, but I don't think either the Raptor or the Tomcat come equipped with flares - maybe the Tom had them in the seventies... And Sandmanns AI boats definitely don't have them. I think it is probably down to an add-on night texture set not getting on with the contrail effects on these two planes...

What, change that? Are you joking?! ;D I'd love to know how to add that to all my planes, and in the day time too... once you've tried yellow blobs, you just can't go back!

;)
