I think the fact that the Typhoon, and F/A-22 are opperated (or will be opperated) by nations that are allies has been lost somewhere. The only time they are likely to come up against each other is in simulations and exercises. In any an actual conflict, they would more than likely be opperating side by side.

Yeah but its more fun to have a little 'competition of stats' with the two of them on here.  ;D

Its also exciting for us Brits because its the first time in years that we have got a fighter jet that is equal to- or better than- the current examples operated by the US Armed Forces.

The RAF pilots have long been used to having to match the US boys using inferior equipment and jets - and they can do great things with less modern hardware.
So what will it be like when they have superior, or later equal, equipment [Eurofighter, F-35]???
Should be fun to watch; the best pilots in the world now finally operating the best aircraft! ;)  8)

Amazingly enough, the first Air to Air exercises between the F-15 and Sea Harrier FRS 1 in the early 80s were surpirsingly one sided in favour of the Fleet Air Arm...

And the Eurofighter has an 80% kill- rate on first attempt and it's allready in service.

Already in service, but like the F/A-22 not yet operational. The first operational Sqn will be 3 Sqn at Coningsby in the second half of 2006. AT the moment 3 Sqn is still flying Gr 7s at Cottesmore til the Navy move in...
