Crazy-a$$ approach!

Postby xFLAMESx » Thu Mar 10, 2005 12:03 am

Now before anyone says anything, I'm not having a dig at the terrain, just really enjoyed the approach ;D

The river approach, doesn't really show how close the wall of water is, but believe me, it's close!

Looking towards the mountain approach and parking area, much easier although you need to watch your port wing coming in ;D

Thanks for looking, these shots were taken at Revelstoke (CYRV), BC, Canada using the 70m SRTM available here ;D

Great stuff, will try it in a jet next ;)

Carl

BTW - The wall of water towers 600ft above the runway! ;D

Indeed, found a few other dips and bumps around that area too ;D

Hi Marick, sorry I didn't get any approach shots, but I did video it, so there may be a good chance of some shots ;), I'll see what I can do ;)

I think I'm gonna go on a world tour of airports, trying to find the hardest approaches I can ;D
Then show pics of the results ;)

Cheers,

Carl

I tried that....amazing!

How though, does the water fall vertically and not splash the runway and what kind of bozo builds a strip there anyway?

There is another airport just like that, but its a valley and the whole airport is about 1,000 feet below ground level. I can't remember what the name of it is though.
