Postby Souichiro » Tue Mar 15, 2005 4:38 pm

Here are some shots of the Blackburn (Hawker siddely) Buccaneer In sky pirate liverie. the bomber is a plane designed for my favorite concept: flying low and fast ;D So I did some on shots.

Very nice Souichiro. :D

The greatest low level high speed bomber of all time.

The daft thing is that the RAF turned it down when they were first offered it. Mainly because the Navy was interested in it & that would never do. ::) This was in the late 50s & they only got it 10 years afterwards as a temporary stop-gap. I don't think they have anything to replace it with now.

Funny how they needed the Buccaneer in Desert Storm then. Charlie will no doubt correct me but I would have I thought the Jaguar would be a more suitable replacement until it's completely phased out. ::)

Pressed into service at short notice during the Gulf War, the Buccaneer and its aircrews finally proved in the most spectacular manner what many had been saying for years, - that the Buccaneer was a truly outstanding machine that could only be replaced by another Buccaneer.
