Once again there seems to be a growing disregard for posting shots within the guidelines set forth by Pete on image size! There are a number of people posting shots over the 100kb limit and also many people posting shots that are linked to other sites like Photo bucket and Image Shack! Also there are a few with signature images the size of a regular photo!

In the past we have resized the image to work within the site rules but with so many linked to outside sites, we have no choice but to just remove them. Please people, if you do not know how to upload and post an image, please see the tute on Simviation Posting.


I have also posted a copy of the guidelines for this site.

the problem is, the yabb upload thing is a piece of crap. i upload something and then a whole other picture shows up. I dont even know why you have these rules. try another forum program. jeez

Here is an idea, try naming your shot something other that airplane1.jpg ,  airplane2.jpg!!!!
People have been using the "Yabb upload thing" for years without a problem. Seems that the people who have the problem are the ones to impatient to read the tutorial! The reason for these rules is so the forums run smooth, as you can see when you break them, they get screwed up!

Well i hate to do this but i side with mavric here. I have taken alot of time to read the tutorial and follow it to the T, but when I post my images i get this littel red X. I even try putting in my own ybb code and it dosnt work. an example (using the pic insert button)

now lets try it with me writing my own

this is the only one ive ever gotten to work

and now not even that works. im sorry but its eathar me   (not likely) my comp (highly unlikely) or ur ybb uploads that are crap.

I never had a single problem with the upload procedure, and I assume that most of the users didn't as well given the great amount of new pics that get posted every day.
What I can suggest you is to use file names that are likely to be unique, because you can't know if a picture with that name already exists or not on the server.
In theory, if it exists, you would overwrite it, but maybe not.
What I personally do is to start the filename with my nickname (who else other that me would care to name a pic "fridaychild*"?) and then put in an underscore and a brief title. So far it has always worked.

People, people, stop harrasing Flye2! He's a hard working moderator, trying to keep these forums in line!

The rules are what they are! Either you comply with them, like most people around here do, or you search an other place to post your shots!

If anyone is having trouble posting shots they can ask me! I've struggled a bit myself at the start, but it's easy once you get the hang of it.

And follow the tips by fridaychild, they should make the posting a lot easier.

CT as you see no problems with your shots you just had to capitalize the jpg====>JPG The tutorial is easy to follow and yup my first post was screwed up as well but someone fxed it for me and told me what was wrong and haven't had any problems since

Let's get serious for a moment.

Someone is paying for the bandwidth that this sim uses on a server somewhere and it ain't all the poeple who are moaning about the incredibly simple procedure of uploading and displaying images.

It's very simple.

If you can't do it, then don't upload.

If you don't want to play by the rules which have been very simply set out in a way anyone can understand, again don't upload.

Surely that's clear enough for anyone to understand? We've been using this system here for a very long time, it's given literally thousands of people a great deal of enjoyment and it continues to do so.

It ill behoves dare I say relative newcomers to arrive and start trying to change things.

Now please people, just get on with taking and uploading some great pics that we can all enjoy, according to the established rules and procedures. If you want to do things differently, there's nothing stopping you starting your own sim site (and paying for it yourself  ;) )

Common problems are:

The Capitalization of jpg into JPG (this one messes up a lot)

Picture sizes: Converting to .jpg with irfanview in 800x640 size should work.

Spaces between the .jpg [/img] Was a problem of my but is solved when copying the text right

wrongful spelling: Solution......Kinda Obvious

And please save your shots in a special name so no myplane1 or something but try 1223451 or so (something easier should do) If you have any problems just ask. just don't bother the mods by linking to other sites
