Real Air C172... ahhh, finally!

Postby beaky » Tue Feb 22, 2005 9:15 pm

Just DLed this very nice SP based on the default FS9 bird.

Only just started playing with it, but it's clear that, as advertised, it taxis and trims out much more like the real thing. Rudder works the way it should in flight, too- one can actually slip very realistically in this C172. I didn't make this landing (been awhile and I was way too long), but it works great.  Alledgedly, it will spin, although I haven't tried that yet. And the slipstream noises, although louder than stock, are much, much more realistic now. Definite changes in pitch reflecting airspeed. Best of all, I'd been having trouble with my default 172 not developing full power- this one will go all the way to redline. Can't wait to play more with this!!! NOTE: If you get this one, do as the ReadMe says: "Realism" sliders all the way right, or it won't work!

Thanks for the lead rottydaddy, I'm downloading it now. Can't wait to see shat she can do. Lemoncat's "moth" paint sounds like a welcome addition, purple never being one of my favourite colors...

Yeah, you'll like it- just remember those realism settings, and you may also  find ,as I did ,that although the wind noise is very realistic, it's too loud compared to other sounds. I had to dial that back a little... but wow, what a difference!!  The key thing with yaw here is that this  'hawk doesn't go hunting and oscillating after you release rudder (on the ground or in the air) as much as the stock one does... I'd been having trouble with that. Every real 172 I've flown behaves much more like this Real Air model.  And it can be trimmed! Hell, I was able to almost fly the whole  pattern with trim alone- just like the real thing!!
But yes, the paint is kinda "gay". I prefer pastels or earth colors on Skyhawks, or bare metal.

I love this bird. I'll have to think about getting some re-paints for it! :)

lol, also if you want a good cessna 172 R-model you could check out the Flight1 product, eats a few frame rates, but definately worth a sacrifice...;-)

I think if I buy something from Flight1 it will be the 177 Cardinal. I just went up in that plane about a month ago! :)
